beep beep news flash
This is just a quick note to link to a new review of Stone Yard Devotional that I wrote for The Christian Century. You can check it out here. I’m proud of it!
I promised this free newsletter I write sometimes when I’m bored at work would be occasional, so I’m resisting the urge to apologize for not posting more frequently. Instead of my own thoughts (which, again, you can read here), here are some links to things I’ve been enjoying lately:
I’ve gotten into carrying a pocket notebook with me all the time. Do you want to know about the history of notebooks? This knit tank top pattern was incredibly quick and easy; I made it in this yarn, which is machine-washable and can go in the dryer! YETI BLOOD OATH? (Why is the logic for the yeti costume never explained??) My buddy Nathan’s podcast, Commonplace, is about creativity and community, especially around his hometown of Huntington, WV. His interview with Mesha Maren introduced me to Zona Motel. Also, slowly re-reading Maren’s second novel, Perpetual West. Huw Lemmey’s essay on the Quaker case for waging peace in the midst of the UK’s crackdown on Palestine Action is essential reading. I recently got a quilt long-arm quilted at A Piece of Quiet Quilts here in Durham; Meghan was so kind and professional—and super fast! (Sorry, no pics yet, it’s a gift.) Also having a LeGuin guy summer. I make this recipe probably once a week? On the other hand, I have made this recipe exactly once, for my friends on my birthday, and it rocked. My roommate has named my salt bowl Giuseppe and now Giuseppe is a load-bearing part of my emotional wellbeing.

is it too late to have a brat summer?
okay bye!
Texas forever,
